“Son, could you please head over to Grandma’s apartment?”
Olga had just seen her husband off to work when their twenty-three-year-old son, Oleg, unexpectedly walked into the kitchen. He sat down at the table and, after a brief silence, said, «Mom, I need to talk to you.»
The doorbell rang. Steady. Persistent. Not a neighbor. Not a delivery. It was the ring of someone who didn’t care if you were ready or not.
«My father disciplined my mother, and I’ll do the same to you,» my husband yelled. But he didn’t know that Lisa’s father had taught her how to fight back. One move, and he was flat on the floor.
«Son, do me a favor and head over to your grandma’s apartment. I’ve got two college girls renting the place, and they are incredibly rude—especially Svetka. I don’t know the other one very well; I’ve only seen her in passing.
«There she is! That’s where that snake lives!» the former mother-in-law shrieked, leading the Child Protective Services caseworkers toward the gate. «Take the children away from her—she’s going to ruin them!»
“What do you mean, there’s no apartment?” he asked, horrified. “What did you do with it?”
“Your wife will transfer the money for my resort stay tomorrow,” his mother said decisively.
«I’m Tired of Your Complaints—Cook for Yourself,» She Said, Putting the Skillet Away
«Leave your keys on the table. You have no business being in my apartment anymore,» the bride-to-be said firmly.
